Pero, para muchos venezolanos, la voz de la radio sigue estando más viva que nunca a través de los ciudadanos que han decidido volcarse a la web 2.0 para hacer pública su indignación, y gritarle al mundo cuáles son las amenazas que se ciernen sobre la libertad de expresión en Venezuela.
Twitter se volvió el instrumento. Segundos después de que la emisora radial CNB cesara el sábado sus trasmisiones por el dial 102.3 en la ciudad de Caracas, se desempolvó una etiqueta (Hashtag) que se había creado semanas atrás para discutir todos los temas referentes a la libertad de expresión y los medios libres en el país: FreeMediaVE.
Según una página web especializada en seguir los temas más comentados en Twitter (twist.flaptor.com), a las 6:00 pm, FreeMediaVE representaba casi 1% de todos los comentarios emitidos por el sitio web y, así, se coló entre los tres tópicos más comentados en Twitter junto con IranElection (una etiqueta creada a propósito del supuesto fraude electoral en Irán ocurrido el pasado 12 de junio).
«Este fin de semana la etiqueta tomó vuelo. Ya se conocía, dado que se había creado semanas atrás, a propósito de la apertura de los procedimientos administrativos a las 240 emisoras. La gente estaba familiarizada con ella. Fue impresionante la generación de mensajes con consignas, ideas o invitaciones. En muchos casos, las personas sólo hicieron catarsis; otros procuraron informar compartiendo algunas direcciones URL con datos sobre el tema», comentó Fernando Núñez Noda, consultor de la web 2.0 y profesor de la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (@nuneznoda).

Avalancha de mensajes. En los últimos 7 días, cerca de 51.000 mensajes (tweets) han sido enviados con la etiqueta FreeMediaVE por casi 5.000 usuarios, según el sitio web http://www.wthashtag.com, una enciclopedia virtual que refleja los movimientos de los hashtags.
En ese lapso, cerca de 114.000 tweets se han enviado a través del tópico IranElection por alrededor de 7.700 usuarios.
«De cada 100 personas, 1 crea contenidos, 9 los comentan y 90 los leen. Se calcula que en Venezuela existen cerca de 25.000 usuarios de Twitter. FreeMediaVE ha sido usado en la última semana por casi 5.000 personas. Parece poco, pero la protesta ha llegado lejos», explicó José Blanco Olivier, director de La Conversa (@jbo).
Incluso, la actriz Allysa Milano (@Allysa_Milano) y los cantantes Ricky Martin (@Ricky_Martin), Alejandro Sanz (@_AlejandroSanz) y Juanes (@JuanesTwitter) han mostrado su solidaridad y simpatía con la protesta de los twiteros venezolanos sobre la libertad de expresión.
«La libertad de expresión es un derecho universal. ¡Amigos venezolanos, vengan a Twitter y hablen! Estoy con ustedes», escribió ayer Ricky Martin.
Acusados de derechistas. Una nota de prensa de la Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias aseguró el sábado que la campaña que se adelantaba en Twitter era obra de «la ultraderecha venezolana».
«A la luz del cambio radical a nivel mundial que han experimentado los medios tradicionales y las socie- dades en la forma de comunicar Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, el Blog entre muchos otros, son una alternativa de intercambio de información en tiempo real pero evidentemente un nuevo canal para crear terror», señala la nota.
La respuesta en Twitter no se hizo esperar. Centenares de mensajes respondieron el mismo día el artículo de ABN, lo que originó el incremento de mensajes por FreeMediaVE.
«Hay ingenieros, periodistas, amas de casa, en fin, gente de a pie, que está preocupada por su país y quiere hacer algo.
Eso es Twitter. No es una conspiración de derecha», subrayó Núñez Noda.
Para Luis Carlos Díaz, periodista caraqueño especialista en comunicaciones Web 2.0 (@LuisCarlos), Twitter no tiene protagonistas. «Ha crecido por un efecto de bola de nieve.
Se convertirá en lo que la gente necesita que se convierta (…) Pero hay que tener claro que Twitter no dará ninguna solución. Te permite indignarte públicamente y alimentar esa indignación», dijo.
